Hi blog friends!
Well, I didn’t mean to let so much time pass before writing. Haha, but that’s life with toddlers, right? Since the last time we talked, I ran a half marathon, went on a girls trip, and our little Miss Charlotte turned 4!
But first, let’s chat about my RACE!
Like I shared before, I was only able to run 2-3x a week leading up the race, which seemed to work well for me. The longest run I did during my training was 10 miles, and it was TOUGH. It was cold and drizzly and just an overall hard run. I was still teaching my regular POP and HIIT classes that week, so my body was hurting and I was kind of thinking “what did I get myself into?” The two weeks leading up to the race, I only ran 3 times total. And slow runs at that, 2-3 miles. This wasn’t necessarily my plan, but that was what my body needed apparently!
Race Day weather was COLD but sunny. At the start line it was in the 30’s (brrr), but I was warm after the first 3 miles. I actually felt really good until Mile 11. That’s when I felt like I hit “my wall” and I was ready to be done! I kept telling myself “you’re almost there, you’re almost there.” I finished in 2:05 right around a 9:30 mile pace which was my goal. So I was happy with how the race went and my time! The competitiveness in me, wants to beat that time next year. I think adding in some shorter but faster paced runs may help with the last 2 miles of the race.
The following week, I traveled to Charleston on a girl’s trip! This was something we had planned almost a year ago, so we’ve been looking forward to it for a long time! Charelston is such a cute city and being there for only 48 hours makes me want to go back! 🙂
My favorite part of the trip was renting beach cruisers and biking through town. Such a fun way to explore a new city! Oh, and not having to feed or wake up with toddlers was nice too!
And so many restaurant options, I feel like you cannot go wrong with any of them. We had a tough time narrowing it down each night! Ahhhh take me back!
Yep, this was the best family picture we could get!
And finally, we celebrated my Charlotte’s 4th birthday! She’s been talking about turning 4 for a loooong time, so this was a big milestone. We had donuts for breakfast, a chocolate milk treat at our favorite local coffee shop, then we celebrated with some close friends and lots of cake!
This age is already full of LOTS of talking (& questions), more independence, and meltdowns, haha. But at the same time she’s learning so much everyday! We’ve been working on writing her name, recognizing letters, and cutting with scissors. Busy busy busy!
Next year both kiddos will be in preschool, which is exciting for them AND for me! I’m hoping to add more classes to my schedule, but I’ll also have more time for class prep, blogging, reading, and well taking a breath!
Thanks for stopping by & reading this wordy post!
