Hi blog friends!
Well, I can now say January officially feels like the longest month of the year! I feel like Christmas was sooooo long ago but it was last month, and I’m so ready for sunshine and warmer weather. Living in LA totally spoiled me, ha.
So ya, with that said I’m running a half marathon in 4 weeks. That sure came up quick. I swear with having toddlers, the days and weeks just fly by and if I don’t look at my calendar I wouldn’t have any idea what’s going on. Lol. I guess that’s #momlife at its best.
Before I get into the running, I want to share some pics from the last month!
I always forget to take pics after my classes, but I managed to get one. I love this group.
The days of snuggly sleepy baby pics are gone, haha but these still make me smile.
Never a dull moment with these two.
So, about that half marathon! My training wasn’t as thorough as I would have liked, but I know I’ll be able to finish the race. I’m not a running expert by any means, but I’ve done enough halfs to know where I need to be to complete the race. Even if I’m not training for something, I generally run twice a week so the only thing I really need to do is to increase my mileage.
Below is my crash course half marathon training plan. (Not for brand new runners, but someone that runs a few times a week consistently). I want to add that I do teach pilates at least 3 days a week as well as a tabata class. So the days I’m not running, I’m doing some sort of cross training!
I did my 8 mile run last weekend, and it actually went better than expected. I was definitely sore that day and the next, but I was able to complete it at about a 9:43 pace! My 10 mile run is coming up in a week, so that will be the true test. And taper week, my favorite part of race training, is coming up soon, haha. I usually just run once and go for a short walk that week, drink lots of water, and carbs! I always like going into race day feeling anxious to run.
So this is what will be keeping me busy the rest of this month! And as timing would have it, I’m heading to Charelston on a girls trip the week after my race. I can’t wait!!
I’ll be sure to write a post up about how my half goes, send me some good running vibes please!
