I hope you are all had a great weekend and good Monday morning so far! We got back from our road trip last week and have been go go go with summer camp and swim lessons, so I’m happy to finally have some time to sit and write!
Today I wanted to share a little bit about our roadtrip down to Austin. Of course it went by so fast and I am already planning to go back so we can explore more of the city!
All packed up! Including the dog, LOL!
The total drive for us wasn’t bad at all, about 3 hours with one stop. I think that is a perfect distance for us right now. I love road trips, so we will have to work on the kids travel endurance step by step 🙂 We had to make a pit stop at the much talked about, Magnolia Market. The line to get into the bakery was SO long, so that was out of the question. But it was a perfect place to let the kiddos and dog walk around and grab some lunch!
We rented a house from Home Away and it was perfect for us, the kids had separate rooms and we had a fenced in yard for the dog. Next time we go back, I will definitely try to stay here again!
We went out for pizza the first night, the resteraunt was great and super kid friendly. They even handed out little dough balls for kids to play with while waiting for our food. Speaking of waiting, we later learned they were having issues with their oven so it took almost an hour for our food to come out. Kids were seriously melting down so we had to take the food to go, but hey, at least we got out right?!
Bedtime was a bit of a mess. Charlotte was great, but our little man decided to climb out of his pack n’ play multiple times. Haha. I can laugh now, but at the time it was a bit stressful. He was so proud of himself and hyper running around the room opening the door so I don’t think he actually fell asleep until 9:30 that night (which is way past his normal bedtime).
Once he was finally in his room, my husband and I could grab some wine, sit outside and relax. Ahhhhhhhhh
The next morning we ate breakfast at home and headed out for coffee and a short walk. Temperatures were wonderful. I never thought I’d say that 78 degrees felt so cool, but it did.
Because of the drive the day before and going to bed later than normal, the kiddos didn’t last too long that morning. Plus it started to rain, boo! After coffee we went home grabbed lunch and put the kiddos down for naps.
After naps we went over to a friends house for dinner, letting the kids run around and just catching up! Bedtime was also tough for Donovan again…..so we are thinking we may need to transition this little man to a big boy bed asap.
Even with little sleep, they were all smiles before we hit the road in the morning!
And finally fell asleep on the drive home……haha, figures!
We have another road trip coming up at the end of July, now that we have one under our belt I think we will be ready! (hopefully)
That is all for now! Thanks for reading!
